Txalaparta:
The instrument or way of makin music apears in different forms and with different names in traditional Basque culture. Always in festivecelebrations held at night and almost always in relation to comunnal work projects abd their subsequent celbrations. Two musicians play. To start one of them sets the backbeat and the other strikes his notes between the beats of the first player. Depending on the region the players are known by the ritmic fuctions in the perfomance so pair are called variously: "Ttakun-errena", "Tukutuna-urguna" or "one-two".I each case the first one is the player who sets the initial rhytm.....
Alboka:
Essentially a double clarinet. One of the sound pipes has five holes and the other has three, wich makes harmonic sound games between them possible. The alboka is played using a continul insufflation technique so that the sound is continuous, like bagpipes....
